My Algarve Life

Here is a Mini Guide on Alcoutim; what to do, where to Eat & Drink.

Mini Guide of What to do, where to eat and drink in Alcoutim, Algarve Portugal.

Alcoutim.

Alcoutim is a town and a municipality in southeastern Portugal, near the Portugal–Spain border, set along the Guadiana River.

Hidden away from the crowds of the busy algarve coast, it is the least densely populated municipality all of Portugal. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth visiting, it is perfect spot for those who be immersed in rich history and authentic culture of the Algarve.

It is a very very small town, with only a handful of restaurants.

What to do…..

The main sites and attractions of Alcoutim include;

Boat rides along the Guadiana River,

Zip line across the Portuguese/Spanish boarder with Limite Zero,

The Castle of Alcoutim, and;

Visiting the various ancient ruins and the Archaeological Museum.

Where to eat… Once Comer?

Just remember, Alcoutim is a very remote town, and not a tourist hot spot per se, so don’t expect fancy beach clubs. You will however get authentic Portuguese food.

Food for thought:

Cascas e Marés

Ta-se Bem, Beach Club

Casualand relaxed drinks and light snack spot by a water bank.

A Taberna do Ramos

Portuguese restaurant.

O Soeiro
