The best beach and pool clubs in the Algarve.

Across the algarve beaches, you have “concession areas” areas, which is where you will find private beach bed and sun loungers for rent. You can’t put your own umbrella up here, as they have rented the space from the local council. They start around 15 Euros, and can go up to close to 50. Most of which offering food and beverage sales. But these are not what I’m talking about. Today I’m talking about Beach Clubs.

A Beach club, or Pool club, often has live music, bar service, food and maybe a restaurant. The Algare region has a few, some are polished and pricey, some are family-friendly, and others are a bit more of a party.

This isn't an exhaustive list - just the ones I rate, or that have come consistently recommended. Let me know if I've missed one.

Lagos to Ferragudo

  • Duna Beach Club — open-air beach parties in summer with live Dj’s.

  • Club Nau: chilled laid back beat club with mediterranean menu, sushi.

  • Edd's Beach: Chill vibes during the day, but in summer their parties can get a bit wild.

  • NoSoloÁgua, Portimão: probably one of the most famous beach club by reputation — big pool, Balinese beds, and a genuine day-to-night transformation, from relaxed lunch to full sunset DJ sets.

  • Armação Beach Club — Run by the Team behind Vila Vita Park, it is elegant and relaxed beach club, with high end service.

Albufeira to Quinta do Lago

  • Well Beach Club: a high end beach club with an entry fee typically €20–40 depending on the season. Food can be a bit pricey. There isn a Dj and you don’t need bookings, but secure your spot early.

  • Purobeach Vilamoura: part of the international Purobeach brand (also in Marbella and Mallorca), set on the sand in front of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura. I’ve been told it can also get a bit wild.

  • NoSoloÁgua, Vilamoura: a lively but smaller sister venue to the Portimão club, known for last minute barefoot beach parties as the sun goes down.

  • Água Qlub: More chill option also owned by the NoSoloÁgua group, set directly on the sand at Praia de Vilamoura with a sushi menu.

Eastern Algarve

  • Xiri beach bar - Ilha de Tavira: Located on Ilha de Tavira, so you need to catch a ferry or a private water taxi to get to the Island. In July and August they have sunset parties.


Other places I’ve heard of, but haven’t been to.

  • Heaven Beach Club: very popular for bachelor parties.

  • Thai Beach Club: very popular on Sundays, but expect lots of shots and maybe a sore head the next day.
